ABOUT ME

Prior to becoming a psychotherapist I worked in Human Resources related positions within the commercial sector for over 15 years. As a psychodynamic psychotherapist I have worked in the NHS (Imperial College Health Centre), at the mental health charity MIND and in private practice.

My experience as an integrative counsellor includes the Higher Education sector where I counselled members of staff, faculty and students. I also supported distressed people whilst volunteering with the Samaritans.

I provide short and long-term therapy to individuals in English, German and Swiss German. In addition I am a solutions-focused coach working with individuals and professionals. Having lived in a variety of countries I have a special interest in the subjects of belonging, inclusion and exclusion, which are often issues when relocating and migrating, and within families and groups.

LANGUAGES

Fluent German, Swiss German and English.

HOW I WORK

I work collaboratively and interactively whilst providing a confidential, neutral and safe space for each client. As each person experiences life and specific situations in a different way I adapt my way of working to your needs. I am informed by humanistic (Gestalt, Existential), psychodynamic, and cognitive behavioural thinking and I also work with mindfulness techniques. My approach is to explore together your immediate concerns to resolve your current life issues. These can range from trying to deal with a difficult situation at work or in your personal life, and during times of transitions. Often the way we perceive and respond to current issues is rooted in the past but rather than focusing primarily on the past we will be working towards integrating the past with the present. In this process you will gain a better understanding of yourself and your situation, which often results in the ability to maintain or improve relationships with others and to open up new possibilities. Or, you may find a more adaptive way to manage stress and anxiety and thus find greater pleasure in your life and work.

As well as face-to-face sessions I provide Skype Therapy and/or telephone sessions tailored to accommodate the needs of busy professionals or people from different time zones.
