ABOUT ME

In my role as Clinical Director I supervise our team of experts to ensure we all continually meet and exceed the highest standards of care for all our clients, whilst adhering to the ethical framework of our membership organisations such as UKCP and BACP.

I undertake assessments of clients and lead the clinical process of referrals to our resident Psychotherapists, Psychologists and Counsellors. Having gained a range of experience in the psychotherapy field, I also provide supervision to a number of other Psychotherapists.

For psychotherapy and counselling to be effective, trust must be part of the therapeutic process. All information disclosed is treated as confidential, whether in person, on the phone or by email. It is vitally important to feel safe and secure in the relationship with your therapist and I place this at the heart of my therapeutic process. This means building a secure, collaborative relationship as a framework for the therapy through scrupulous attention to confidentiality and professional boundaries. I work at the client's pace, attending to strengths and resources as well as areas of difficulty.

Habitual patterns of relating tend to be reproduced in the therapy relationship and I bring my integrity and commitment to exploring these patterns as they emerge. My aim as a psychotherapist and counsellor is to calibrate the balance of support and challenge
according to each individual need.

HOW I WORK

With nearly 18 years of combined experience working in the health professions and psychotherapy and as an Addictions Specialist, I support my clients through the 12 step process, as well as with clients who elect not to take this route. I can offer psychotherapy sessions in a one-to-one setting or clients may prefer to see me with their partner, or with the whole family.

For people who want to focus on specific issues, I have also undertaken extensive training in Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) at Guys Hospital under Dr James Low and in the Psychodynamic department under Dr Jean Arundale, then Editor of The British Journal of Psychotherapy. During this time and because of the therapeutic connections between CAT and CBT, I also undertook intensive CBT training to leverage my existing knowledge of CAT. I offer short-term, structured therapy of 16 CAT sessions Click for more info. I practice systemically - systemic psychotherapy is particularly effective when working in couples, families or organisations. Click for more info

Recognising that weekly face-to-face sessions are not always possible for many individuals, including busy executives who travel extensively or are based abroad. I provide a bespoke service that is designed with each client to combine personal meetings with Skype Therapy and/or phone sessions to maintain regular contact.

EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP COACHING

Prior to training as a Psychotherapist I worked as a senior executive for multi-national foundation The Aga Khan Development Network in its health and education services. This experience, together with my earlier career as a venture capitalist and senior management consultant, has given me a varied background and extensive insight into the stresses and strains of different workplace environments. My training in Executive Coaching at Columbia University, New York enables me to use diverse experience and learning to work with board level executives, Family Offices and High Net Worth individuals requiring confidential, strategic one-to-one business leadership coaching.
