Psychotherapist

Prior to training and working as a Psychodynamic psychotherapist I had a successful career in Education, working as a teacher and then, as a Head teacher, managing teams of professionals. I have worked both in the public and private sectors in the field of education and understand the demands and complexity for individuals working in large organisations (I have an MA in Educational Leadership). I have also worked in the voluntary sector with families who have experienced domestic violence and understand how deeply affected people of all ages are by this experience.

As well as working as a psychotherapist in private practice, I work at the Munro Centre at Guys Hospital in London. I have lived in a number of countries, including Ireland, Germany and Turkey, thus I have insight into issues around relocation and know how it feels to deal with the excitement of a new country as well as the culture shock that can arise. I speak German, French and a little Turkish, though I offer therapy only through the medium of English. Working as a psychotherapist allows me to engage deeply with my clients and really help them to effect change in their lives. This is satisfying and meaningful work for me.

How I work

I work with adults of all ages and backgrounds on issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship problems and career dilemmas. As a psychodynamic psychotherapist I encourage my clients to explore their deepest self and believe that this exploration, and the understanding it facilitates, helps us to live fuller, more contented lives.
I use memories, the unconscious (through dreams and free association) as well as the relationship that develops between us in the consulting room as vehicles of self-discovery. I provide a warm, professional relationship where the client can feel profoundly understood, and safe to explore areas of the self that have perhaps been neglected or denied.

As well as face-to-face sessions I provide Skype Therapy and/or telephone sessions tailored to accommodate the needs of busy professionals or people from different time zones.
