Psychotherapist

I have a warm, interpersonal manner combined with an analytical mind. As a counsellor for HR departments, I have counselled employees from a wide spectrum of backgrounds, for stress, depression, bereavement and anxiety. My training and work with people in crisis over the past 17 years has given me insight into key life issues and invaluable experience of supporting people in their suffering by containing their anxiety and creating a safe space for them to explore their options, whilst helping them come to terms with where their life has taken them.

As a counsellor at The Munro Centre, Guys Hospital, I worked with clients for long term psychotherapy, exploring issues such as depression, drug use, separation, anxiety, loss, sexual abuse and domestic violence.

I was a Trustee of the Albany Trust, a charity that provides psychosexual psychotherapy and promotes psychosexual health. Prior to this I was Chair of Camden Victim Support, a volunteer at Amnesty International and during my earlier training in law I supported prisoners on death row at the Southern Centre for Human Rights in Atlanta, Georgia.

How I work

Therapy can be enjoyable as well as challenging; my commitment is to create a safe, non-judgmental I am an integrative psychodynamic psychotherapist experienced in working with people who are suffering the unhappiness and or insecurity brought about by personal history, trauma or simply as a result of the unhappiness of living and working within pressurised environments.

Psychodynamic psychotherapy entails developing a strong therapeutic relationship built on deep trust. This creates an environment where the client feels able to tackle difficult and often painful issues with honesty and courage.

My role is to help clients overcome the hurdles to good emotional and psychological health. My clients and I work collaboratively to explore what lies behind behaviour that clients find troubling. I make links between a client’s current feelings, behaviour and their past, as the key to feeling better can sometimes be about early wounds in need of repair.

As well as face-to-face sessions I provide Skype Therapy and/or telephone sessions tailored to accommodate the needs of busy professionals or people from different time zones.
