For psychotherapy and counselling to be effective, trust must be part of the therapeutic process. All information disclosed is treated as confidential, whether in person, on the phone or by email. It is vitally important to feel safe and secure in the relationship with your therapist and I place this at the heart of my therapeutic process. This means building a secure, collaborative relationship as a framework for the therapy through scrupulous attention to confidentiality and professional boundaries. I work at the client's pace, attending to strengths and resources as well as areas of difficulty.

My deep expertise is in psycho-sexual therapy and identifying our ‘authentic self’. I have used my experience as a therapist to co-author ‘Finding Sexual Realness - An Inner Journey of Exploration’. The book provides insight and support to individuals facing challenges in and around their sexual choices. This book helps readers to fully own their sexuality for its true purpose – to feel fully alive in their relationships in a completely fresh and liberating way.

Prior to training and working as a Psychodynamic psychotherapist I had a successful career in Education, working as a teacher and then, as a Head teacher, managing teams of professionals. I have worked both in the public and private sectors in the field of education and understand the demands and complexity for individuals working in large organisations (I have an MA in Educational Leadership). I have also worked in the voluntary sector with families who have experienced domestic violence and understand how deeply affected people of all ages are by this experience. As well as working as a psychotherapist in private practice, I work at the Munro Centre at Guys Hospital in London.

I qualified as a Gestalt Psychotherapist in 2010. After 20 years in industry I was a schoolmaster for 15 years and my classroom experience has been invaluable in my clinical practice. I taught unhappy children and witnessed first-hand the struggles some children and teenagers face in the school environment and in their family lives. Consequently much of my work has focused on helping adolescents and young adults - an age group I am now so familiar with. This can be a challenging age and adolescent problems are often complex and lacking in obvious symptoms. The young person is defining who they are and how they fit into the world as an adult and their relationships with friends, family and particularly parents will change dramatically.

Prior to training as a psychotherapist I spent 20 years in the commercial property sector. Having immersed myself in a heavily goal-oriented environment I have always been interested in what influences our behaviours and choices; this inspired me to train as a psychotherapist. As part of my practice, I have come to appreciate the importance of relationships and how our earliest connections influence how we perceive ourselves and relate to others.
