GROUP THERAPY

Our group provides space where participants are invited to consider and process issues, thoughts, feelings and behaviours. It can support reflection and increased awareness on our usual coping mechanisms and explore alternative ways of dealing with difficult things. It is up to the individual what they want to bring. Discussing experiences with others can also provide helpful feedback as participants notice commonalities and differences.

For some people it takes time listening to other people’s experience before they feel able to share and for others they may want to share on the first session. It is up to them when they feel ready to share, so they do not feel under any pressure at any time.

Group therapy feels different to individual therapy as participants get a variety of people in the group who might evoke different responses. The group setting supports understanding of bias in relation to other people. It can be helpful in revealing something about ourselves that may not be uncovered in individual therapy but present in everyday life.

The membership of the therapy group is carefully considered in terms of each potential group members’ psychological awareness and their readiness to hear other people's experiences and listen to other's perspectives.

Application for the Group can be made through either calling 0207 101 4300 or emailing pa@markboyden.com
