mark boyden psychotherapy central london

As a psychologist with nearly 15 years of experience in private health care, third sector and management of organisations, I am particularly motivated by working with people in difficulty to increase their sense of wellbeing.

I am enjoying my dual career; working with Mark Boyden Associates and also lecturing at a London University on a Professional Doctorate in Counseling Psychology program.

At the University, I lecture, supervise research and publish work. This keeps me at the forefront of the latest developments in Counselling Psychology, which I am then able to draw upon with my clients.

In my background I have a broad experience. I have previously managed a psychotherapy service in North London with key responsibility for overall service and operations. I also ran groups and worked with people one to one, providing short and long term psychological interventions for adults with a range of issues. I have provided supervision for both trainee and qualified psychologists and psychotherapists as well as remote supervision to psychosocial workers stationed abroad, overcoming language and cultural barriers. In the past I have also managed services supporting men and women experiencing domestic abuse and worked within a substance misuse facility.

Fluent in English & Catalan (Spain).

I am a HCPC registered Counselling Psychologist, also registered with the British Psychological Society. I believe human experience is diverse, so it is important to respond to individual needs. I believe it to be important to remain as open as possible to the complexity of human existence. We make unique decisions on how we live but this can sometimes seem perplexing and overwhelming. Life can present us with experiences that are tough and coping with this can be challenging.

Through the therapy sessions, it is possible to increase our self-awareness and rehearse particular skills that help us conserve a meaningful balance that expresses how we would really like to live. We can talk through your experiences and issues in a dialogue of depth. No matter how the problem or issue initially presents itself, it often affects other areas of our life and it is often helpful to understand and process this experience in therapy. Therapy includes qualities such as compassion, courage, focus, and honesty.

I provide sessions tailored to every individual. This may be in short-term focused, goal-oriented sessions as well as long term or open-ended therapy. We would first meet for an initial consultation where you can talk about your concerns and ask any questions you may have so we can establish how we might work together.

Face-to-face sessions are typically weekly and last 50mins. I also provide Skype Therapy and/or telephone sessions tailored to accommodate the needs of busy professionals or people from different time zones.
